Simply human
Many people all over our planet wish for peaceful unity and yet we are often unable to realize this longed-for peace either individually or globally.
Unhappiness begins within ourselves as a tension, where something is obviously perceptible and shows itself to us as discomfort, pain, nervousness, fear, anger or other unpleasant feelings. We usually reject them, fight against them, would like to get rid of them immediately or inwardly rate them as “bad”.
This inner zone of discord can extend into our families, relationships and fields of work.
We insist on the positions and opinions that are “right” for us, with which we clearly distance ourselves from others: in thoughts, words and deeds that reject otherness. We join forces with like-minded people and form groups of separation: us against the others.
This applies to areas in private life, education, politics, the economy, lifestyle, world view, faith and much more . – It is mostly about being right, about power or at least feelings of superiority.
As inside so outside
That is enough explosive material for aggressive words, conflicts or hurtful disputes, which pervade our world today. It sometimes leads to unimaginable cruelty and wars. We find suffering people everywhere and if we look within ourselves in honest and quiet moments, we will often sense tension, discord and conflict there too.
A very sad and perhaps also shocking finding.
What do we humans do when something really shakes and moves us? Either we make the situation worse by continuing to fight, putting even more energy into demarcation, escalation and radical positioning –
What do we do?
What do we do?
What do we humans do when something really shakes and moves us? Either we make the situation worse by continuing to fight, putting even more energy into demarcation, escalation and radical positioning –
OR …
For our earth
Or we pause! When someone who meant a lot to us dies, we pause together, bear witness to his or her life, stand together and remain silent – often for a minute, a minute’s silence.
Our earth as a whole is a significant being whose life is threatened and we are simply living people all over this planet.
We are many
Together from the heart
What happens if we become aware of this again every 6 hours? If we reflect for a minute on life as an earthling?
Nothing special is needed for this: no healing thought, no mantra, no special posture or breathing. What arises spontaneously is welcome, but no inner effort is required to remember that we are human.
Perhaps images of our more than eight billion fellow human beings and countless other living beings with whom we share this present moment emerge.
Perhaps a heartfelt door will open spontaneously, perhaps a tear will flow. Let’s allow ourselves every surprise. Perhaps we are experiencing a global connection in this quiet minute and who knows:
Perhaps our earth will also feel this peaceful union.
